As a Presenter user, I would like the ability to import and view PDF slides, as an alternative to PowerPoint and Google slides. This is especially important because I use Presenter on Linux workstations where PowerPoint is not supported. PDF is a pretty universal format with many libraries to support displaying them.

And what is odd about the lack of direct PDF import is that the PowerPoint importer in Presenter converts the presentations to PDFs to are stored for Presenter to display the slides without the PowerPoint app running. You'll see this conversion to PDFs in action when importing a large PowerPoint file (dozens of slides), and you'll see a status message that the import script is converting the file to a PDF.

This is particularly important because the use of Linux (and not tying software into the need to purchase Microsoft or Apple licenses (or hardware)) is so important for (a) environmental stewardship reasons, and (b) keeping costs down for small churches in poor areas.

Is there any chance this feature will be added in the future? This would be very important for us as well, because our church does not own Microsoft Office.

Hi WorshipTools-Team,

I also would love to have a feedback from you on the long-requested PDF support in your app.
Since you internally already use PDF after importing from PPTX (and Keynote too, I assume), what hinders you from making the PDF import available?
Licensing cannot be an issue (free PDF libraries around for 10+ years)...

We at our church are evaluating WorshipTools (we want to move from our 20-years-in-use tool OpenLp), the major thing that hinders a full conversion to WT is the lack of PDF support. We use Linux platform, so there's no Keynote or Microsoft available. We have LibreOffice and its backend, which supports PPTX etc., but importing Powerpoint is not possible (I wonder...even OpenSource software like OpenLp is capable of that, simply using the provided backends on the system).

An explanaition is very much appreciated - and the PDF support implementation too! :)

Best regards and blessings

Samuel
