Support for "B" to Get Blank Slide

April 9, 2026
Many apps use "B" for "blank". So pressing B on the keyboard gives you a black slide and pressing it again goes back to the presentation. That can be very useful and is also supported by many wireless presenters (that you use to advance slides). It would be really useful to have support for that.

At the moment, F12 allows you to do half of what you are asking - F12 will 'clear all', F11 will 'clear foreground'; F10 will 'clear background'

Unfortunately they do not toggle, so they do not restore the presentation.

Perhaps if F12 could be made to toggle, that would be good.

'B' will probably not be suitable, because 'B' is usually already a hotkey for 'Bridge' in the songs.

Thank you for your reply. I've seen that the function keys do these things, but it's not really a replacement because a) it doesn't toggle and b) it doesn't work with hardware wireless presenters that use 'B'.
Why not have 'B' as an option? We can change the hotkeys for all the other slides in settings, so we can simply reassign 'Bridge' to another letter for those of us who want it. While Presenter uses 'B' for the bridge (and there's some logic to that), I would say it's the outlier. Keynote and PowerPoint both use 'B' for blank (or black rather). SongSelect also does that. Not sure about other presenter software.

In smaller settings I love to be a part of the group instead of sitting in front of the computer, that's why I enjoy using a wireless presenter in those cases.
