Arbitrary Colomn Breaks

It seems like half the time when I'm formatting with ChordPro, the page arbitrarily decides to move the rest of the sections to the second column, even when there is obviously space for it on the previous column. This usually makes a song a two-pager for seemingly no reason. I try to keep songs to one page if I can help it so this is extremely frustrating.

I find that when I remove a section header (IE: {comment: Verse 1}) it will move another section onto the previous column. Is there a limit to how many sections with headers can be in a column?
