OK, revision number 2!

In a comment on AJay's video, someone says they successfully use an HDMI "dummy plug" instead of a dongle/adaptor to fool their PC into thinking they have an HDMI monitor plugged in.

A little bit of googling suggests this might work without requiring my specific setup with one monitor acting like two monitors. They seem to be very cheap (£3.75 on Amazon here in the UK for a device that 'pretends' to be a 1920x1080 monitor and claims to be OSX compatible). If you have a spare HDMI out on your Mac that may be all you need. Otherwise you'll need a USB to HDMI dongle + dummy plug. I'm going to buy one and will report back in a few days whether it works or not!

Hopefully last post on this topic until the guys at WE add support for a dedicated Preview window.

I've now tested setting up a 'dummy plug' virtual display for use as the WE Main Audience Output screen so that I can capture it using the Window Capture feature in OBS. This works perfectly!

I've tried each of the following using a 'KamKorda HDMI Dummy Plug Adapter' (£3.77 on Amazon) :-

1) Mini Mac 2012
a) MiniDP -> HDMI cable->Dummy Plug
b) HDMI output -> Dummy Plug
c) USB -> HDMI Adapter->Dummy Plug

2) MacBook Pro 2012
a) MinDP -> HDMI Cable -> Dummy Plug
b) USB -> HDMI Adaptor -? Dummy Plug

All of the above work and give me a second virtual screen that WE is happy to use for the audience output and that OBS can capture.

Note: The Dummy Plug is sensed as a 1920x1080 display by MacOS and so defaults to this size. However, using the EasyRes utility I can set the resolution to anything I like from 640x480 to 2560x1440 at various fps rates.
