Using Logitech remote when Presenter is not the active window

October 15, 2024
We have a computer that is over capable of running Presenter and OBS simultaneously. The issue I am having is the pastor uses a Logitech remote to advance slides. How do I make it so that the remote works when Presenter is in the background/not the active window?

Fundamentally the Logitech remotes (and other presentation remotes) are just emulating the keyboard input for the arrow keys on your keyboard. That's why they can work in multiple programs and operating systems rather than just PowerPoint.

Because of that, it will be no different than trying to arrow advance with your keyboard when OBS is opened, it won't work.

We have built it into our workflow to ensure the media person specifically clicks the first slide in presenter at the beginning of the sermon to ensure it is active. However, we have seperate computers for streaming and media; if your media person switching between inputs virtually inside OBS?
