Hi all,
I am considering extending our Presenter displays into one of the other rooms in our building so that the people in the creche can continue to watch the service. I appreciate that will require using an Ethernet extender. But does the ethernet connection have to be point to point, or can it go over the church's existing ethernet & WiFi network?

Generally speaking they are point-to-point. Even though these types of extenders use the CAT5 and CAT6 cabling, they don't always use the actual standard protocols for ethernet.
Check your adapter, maybe call the manufacturer. I am sure there are some that are designed for over networks, but most of the HDMI to CAT adapters I have dealt with are closed systems.
