Playing Web Videos

Presenter makes it easy to stream videos from YouTube or Vimeo in just a few simple steps. To get started, create a new service item and select Media as the service item type. From the Source dropdown, choose Web Video, then paste the YouTube or Vimeo URL into the provided field. Click Save and Close in the upper‑right corner to finish.

Keep in mind that some videos may display a “Video Unavailable” message when used in Presenter. This typically occurs when the video owner has set the content to private or unlisted, which prevents playback in external applications like Presenter.

It's important to understand the difference between Web Video and Web Page, as each option is designed for a different type of content. Web Video, found under Media, is specifically built for video playback and supports only YouTube and Vimeo URLs. This ensures consistent embedding, reliable playback, and video-specific controls during presentations.

In contrast, the Web Page service item is intended for general web content and allows links to most external websites. This makes it ideal for articles, resources, or referencing your church website. While you can add YouTube and Vimeo links as web pages within this service item, it's not recommended. There are limitations with this setup, which can cause the video to behave differently since the focus is on displaying an entire webpage rather than optimizing video playback.

Choosing the appropriate option helps ensure your content displays as intended. In summary, use the Web Page service item for general web content and the Media > Web Video source when your goal is to showcase a music video, for example.
