There are two methods for sending out email communications in Community. The first method is specifically for mass messaging - sending emails to groups of people. The second method is for emailing select individuals like we would with a typical email client (i.e. Gmail or Yahoo). Note that the instructions below also apply to text communications, for those who have access to that feature.
Sending Mass Emails to Recipients by Grouping
To get started, head to the Communications page in Community. Click + Communication and fill out the fields on the following page.
Type up your desired message using the various tools available. You can adjust your font style, add images, include hyperlinks, and more. The Insert Field option is also available if you'd like to add a personalized touch to the message.
Specify who will receive your message using the Select People button in the right-hand box. Here, you'll use the various fields and filters to narrow down the recipients list as needed. If you have no fields or filters selected, Community will send your message to everyone.
For example, you might send weekly updates to "Everyone," but you might filter the list to "Men" for an email about an upcoming Men's Retreat.
Sending Emails to Select Recipients
From the "People" page in Community, click on the checkbox to the left of the name of the person, or people, you want to send an email to. You can select a single person, or you can select as many people as you need for this particular message.
Once you select your recipient(s), click "Bulk" towards the top of the page. There, you'll see an option for Email. This will take you to the New Communications page, where you can create and send your email to the recipient(s) you selected on the previous page.
