Import PowerPoint/Keynote

PowerPoint and Keynote (macOS only) presentations can be imported into Presenter just like any other piece of media. Instructions on how to import media can be found here. PowerPoint or Keynote will need to be installed on the computer for this process to succeed.

Import a PowerPoint Presentation

To import a saved PowerPoint presentation, create a new service item, then select the Media service item type. From the Source drop-down, select Media from your library, then Select in the box just below the drop-down. Next, if the PowerPoint presentation is not already in your library, click the + Import Media button from the right side, choose Import File, then locate your PowerPoint Presentation in your file directory. The presentation file should then appear in your library. Select it, and it will be added to your service item.

Preserve PowerPoint animations, transitions, and videos

PowerPoint presentations are converted to static images upon import into Presenter. To keep animations, transitions, and other media elements, you can use the "Launch with PowerPoint" option, available only on Windows. This will launch the presentation with PowerPoint when the service item is fired.

Use Keynote to generate PowerPoint thumbnails

On macOS, you have the option to use PowerPoint or Keynote to generate PowerPoint thumbnails. Under Settings > Defaults > PowerPoint Import, select Keynote. This is a great option for macOS users who don't have PowerPoint installed. Keynote can be downloaded from www.apple.com/keynote if needed.

Getting the message to verify PowerPoint/Keynote is installed?

If you are seeing a "verify PowerPoint is installed" or "verify Keynote is installed" message, and you have either PowerPoint or Keynote installed, verify that Presenter has permission to control the application.

  1. Open Mac's System Preferences
  2. Choose Security and Privacy
  3. Privacy tab
  4. Choose Automation on the left
  5. Under WorshipTools, make sure PowerPoint (or Keynote) is checked
  6. Re-launch WorshipTools and try the import again
